Regional Natural Park of Lessinia

The Regional Natural Park of Lessinia extends over 100 km2 on the Lessini Mountains' plateau, behind Verona and borders on Trento. It's composed by green ridges for pasture in Alto Lessini and deep incisions called vaj.
The plateau's landscape is subalpine, with wide ridges that have hollows, valleys, fields, pastures and woods. The latters, widespread in the vaj, point out the wood extensions before the human being's deforestation made in Neolithic period.
The Valsorda, Progno of Breonio and Ponte de Veja zones, all located in Valpolicella, are also part of the Park.
The Park has naturalistic jewels such as Corno d'Aquilio, Spluga della Preta, one of the most famous karstic abysses, and zones of exceptional ambiental prestige such as the SIC - Siti di Interesse Comunitario (Community Interest Site) that are meant for preservation of biological diversities and habitat, animal and vegetable species warship. Among the wild animal species of this region there are: golden eagle, peregrine falcon, capercaillie, black grouse, hazel grouse, tengmalm's owl, black woodpecker, dipper and insects such as millipedes, spiders, shellfishes, that have adapted to the underground habitats. Thanks to the territory's nature, we can find in Lessinia about 800 karstic underground cavities, modelled also by the water's eroding activity which, being absorbed by dolinas, flows in deepness.

Park's Office is in Bosco Chiesanuova, Piazza Borgo 52.
