Cariano Route

Lenght: 9 km - 4 or 5 hours
The Cariano route stretches in the hamlets of the municipality of San Pietro in Cariano, giving the way to appreciate the historical and artistic beauties.
The route starts from Piazza San Rocco in Pedemonte, following then via Ronchetto. You cross the provincial street reaching the locality of Lenguin. Carrying on via Omero Speri (dedicated to the chemist that, with Pietro Zorzi, patented a cold-fusion system), you reach the town San Floriano, where it is possible admire Villa Lebrecht and, close to it, Pieve di San Floriano. Passing at the feet of Squarano hill, where there is Villa Fumanelli, you reach the locality Casa Rossa and then you go towards Castelrotto, where it is possible see Villa Fraccaroli, located on the top of the hill. From the panoramic terrace the sight sweeps from the city centre to the vineyards and the submitting habitations. Behind the hamlet of the most historical interest it is the hill of Castelrotto where was built a castle that the tradition called it Castle of Lombard king Rotari (where the homonymous edict was formed). Then you go down the side along the way of the arches where you can glimpse Villa Betteloni. Passing in front of a kid area and an alpine troops zone of Corrubbio, you can reach via Sausto, in direction of Cengia, arriving then in Villa Giona, where, walking along a perimeter fence and the vineyards, you return to Piazza San Rocco in Pedemonte.
